Lenten Events 2018

CONFESSION

WELCOME HOME FOR HEALING is the invitation for all Catholics across the country to take advantage of the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  Confessions will be heard every Monday evening from 7:00 to 8:30pm here in the church during Lent.  Every parishioner is urged to take the opportunity to make the ultimate preparation for the celebration of Easter.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS

The ancient tradition of following in the footsteps of Jesus as He made His way to Calvary is available every Friday evening here in the church at 7:30pm. This excellent devotion is centered around the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of our Savior.  Please consider making this practice a part of your family’s observance of Lent.

ECUMENICAL WORSHIP

As in past years, the members of the Vernon Clergy sponsor a series of ecumenical worship services on Wednesdays during Lent. On February 28th, Our Lady of Fatima will host the second Lenten event.  Please take the opportunity to join us at 7:30 for prayer and the Word of God, followed by light refreshments in the church hall.

Adult Antioch Weekend

OUR LADY OF FATIMA

Come to the Antioch Adult Retreat

Why is this weekend called Antioch?

The Acts of the Apostles report, “It was at Antioch that the believers were first called Christians.” During the early Church times the community at Antioch was recognized as a particularly faithful, vibrant, loving, prayerful people of God.

What does that have to do with us?

To what extent are we known as a Christian people at work, home, and in the neighborhood? Do we allow our faith in God to affect the way we are and act? Are we more loving, faithful, caring, honest, and joyful because of our faith? The challenge is that we, members of the Church, accept the love of Christ and live it daily.

What is the weekend like?

It is a dynamic weekend, full of sharing, discussions, music, food, fun, projects, quiet time and more. The weekend is entirely given by an experienced retreat team. It will be the best “mini-vacation” you will ever take! You will be glad you came!

Who can go?

This weekend is open all mature adults age 18 and older; and no longer in high school.

Where & when is this retreat being held?

Sacred Heart Retreat Center, Newton NJ. (about 30 minutes from Vernon.) Starting Fri. 3/23/18@7PM through Sun. 3/25/18 @ 3:30PM.
